ARTS COVENANT CONTEST; HELP SELECT A LOGO FOR EMERGING ARTS GROUP FROM THESE ENTRIES.(CNY)

More than 80 people sent their designs to The Post-Standard as part of a logo contest for the Arts Covenant, an emerging group that seeks to involve all Central New Yorkers in supporting the arts and participating in the artistic process.

The Arts Covenant seeks to get people to engage in a fun challenge by making four arts-related pledges a year. The pledges can be anything you choose:

1) Give art as a present.

2) Make art.

3) Go to an arts venue you've never visited before

4) Volunteer for an arts organization.

Or whatever else you come up with.

A group of Arts Covenant members ranked the logos, and finalists have been selected in three categories -- adult, high school and young student. There are four finalists in the young student category because of a tie in the initial voting, and three finalists in the others.

Now it is up to you to help the Arts Covenant select the logos it will use on its materials.

Go to blog.syracuse.com/cny-speaks and take the online poll to select the winners.

No Internet access? No problem. Just write or call Civic Engagement Editor Greg Munno at The Post-Standard, 1 Clinton Square, Syracuse, NY 13221, or 470-6084, and let him know which logos in each category you like best.

The voting ends April 26. The winners will be announced in the paper and on the CNYSpeaks blog.

All the logos will be on display at the Museum of Young Art, 110 W. Fayette St. There will be a ballot box at MOYA, so you can vote there as well.

You'll even be able to meet some of the designers at MOYA 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday during a reception that's part of the Th3 event, when dozens of local arts venues have openings and other interesting exhibits and presentations. For information on other Th3 events, held the third Thursday of each month, go to th3syracuse.com.
