Fed: Library forced to withdraw refugee display after threats
CANBERRA, Aug 9 AAP - A Canberra public library will today withdraw a display on asylumseekers after it provoked threats against staff.
The exhibition by the Refugee Action Committee includes a representation of a childcrying inside a mock detention centre.
It will be removed from the library, in the southern Canberra suburb of Tuggeranong, after staff and their union complained it had sparked threats by members of the public.
"Some people going to the library have been so rude and aggressive to the staff thatthey don't actually feel safe with the display in the library," a spokeswoman for thecommittee told ABC radio.
