IRS TRACKS MONEY TRAIL IN FRAUD CASE.(CAPITAL REGION)

The IRS has tracked $900,000 allegedly stolen from an elderly Colonie widow by Carol Lynn Mickens, a registered nurse who provided her with round-the-clock home-health care, Police investigators said Wednesday.

The investigation into the alleged financial scam, in which Mickens is accused of cutting off 94-year-old Florence Estes from family and friends in order to loot her savings, is continuing. Federal and county prosecutors have said the amount stolen from Estes could be about $1 million.

``They (the IRS) have been able to document up to $900,000 to date and they are still going,'' said Colonie Police …
